Music has always been a means of escape for me, My passion for playing stems from my emotions, it's either a healing process or pure expression; letting out whatever feelings have gestated to the point that they need to come out. I got into heavy music at an early age and eventually managed to save up for a guitar.I didn't bother learning to play properly, instead I would just sit for hours hitting the strings; mesmerising myself into a daydream or venting my anger and frustration.
After my first band split ways I decided to get a bass, I wanted to be able to make my own music. I hadn't intended on becoming a bassist; Fate however, saw differently. I spent a long time trying to become one with the damn thing, I didn't care about the rules of how it has to be played, I wanted to challenge it, to see it as more.
My style has been inspired by many musicians and artists; I've taken from guitars, electronics, vocals, philosophies, electronic media e.t.c. but, the best teachers have been the people I have had the privilege of jamming along side and the situations that I have been put in. The best lesson that I learned was to swallow my pride.
Band wise I can cite many influences, Maximum the Hormone, Meshuggah, Tool, Primus, Aphex Twin, DJ Shadow, Mike Patton (there are loads), However, korns 'follow the leader' had the biggest impact on my life, it changed everything that I thought about music.
Rocking out with my bro's is the most important thing to me!
I love being able to get on stage, let go, be overcome and lose myself in the music, the feeling of freedom that comes from it is paramount to none. I admire love and respect all the bands that have affected my life.
